TV on the Radio win Shortlist Award

TV on the Radio are undoubtedly one of the most interesting new bands to come out in the last couple of years, if nothing else because they are pushing a unique sound and are as far away from the mainstream as you can imagine. Their debut album, Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes, is exciting, hypnotic and unpredictable. Its first single, 'Staring at the Sun' is simply mesmerizing: I could attempt to describe it as an irresistible blend of goth, electronica and R&B, which really makes no sense on paper and doesn't even begin to do justice to these guys' musical personality. Just listen and judge by yourself. (If you like it, you may also want to check out their new non-album single 'New Health Rock', more anthemic and energetic but equally amazing).

Their Shortlist win proves that the four-year-old award remains relevant and has not been taken over by industry interests yet. Congratulations.
