I only discovered them a few days ago, but it turns out this trio from LA have been around for quite a while. Having already published an EP in 2001, they finally come out with their debut album, Future Perfect. Their ethereal sound, androgynous sleepy vocals, hypnotic beats and guitar distortions throw us back to the shoe-gazers of the late 80s/early 90s. The My Bloody Valentine comparisons become inevitable, and echoes of Sonic Youth are also clearly present, but throughout this record Autolux often manage to create their own dreamy atmospheres and achieve a unique, strangely captivating personality.
The first single from the album, 'Here Comes Everybody' is out next week, but I prefer the darker, yet even catchier opening track 'Turnstile Blues'. All in all, cool music to chill out and dance to.
Ok, I'm going away for the holidays, so that's it for this week.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
